Volvo Corporate Process & IT in Wroclaw looking for canidates for the position Senior Application Support for IBMi
Role mission & context:
The Application Support personnel is responsible for providing support services to application users according to the Service Level Agreement. Role includes communication with different global sites and departments as well as variety of customers and support teams.
Application Support job carries out user support, identifies defects and proposes changes and improvement activities for an assigned application or group of applications. This job assists users when defects are found by resolving the defects or providing temporary workarounds to keep the application operational when needed.
Key responsibilities:
• Being part of maintenance team for applications on IBMi (iSeries/AS400) platform
• Provide support and maintenance of existing corporative applications in IBMi platform with RPG / CL and DB2 on a daily basis
• Support users by explaining system capabilities, handling questions and solving incidents
• Perform application root cause analysis and problem investigation
• Propose changes and improvement activities that make the application more efficient and/or reduce operation or maintenance cost
• Participate in the planning of application maintenance and enhancement activities
• Participate in project phases including: testing, preparing for the support phase, roll-out, etc.
Required Competencies:
• Knowledge of IBMi (iSeries/AS400) platform, RPG, CL, ILE RPG – at least 5 years of experience
• Strong programming, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Deep knowledge of relational databases (DB2 + SQL)
• Several years of experience in large applications developing and maintaining and/or programming experience
• Action oriented with creative approach to problem solving
• Business understanding
• Self-independence, self-confident and creative
• Excellent communication skills and self-reliance
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Master’s degree (preferable in IT)
• Tendency to improve performance
Optional Competencies:
• ITIL and/or ITSM knowledge
